From cameras that click deepfake nudes to the ones that protect you by shooting paintballs, we got it all!
Are you ready to kick your week off with the freshest developments in AI? We've got a thrilling lineup for you!
Dive into the world of eerily accurate deepfakes, explore AI-enabled cameras that launch paintballs to protect you from dangers, and delve into a camera project that stimulates important discussions on the risks of deepfake nudity and image-based sexual abuse.
There's plenty to unpack, so let's get started!
ThisWeek in AI
1) Rabbit r1: R1 was announced earlier this year and sold over 100k of these devices so far. It sells for $199 and needs no subscription to do it’s thing. It is powered by Perplexity.ai, a popular AI-first-search engine, and introduces its own LAM (Large Action Model) that can learn how to use the web for you, so that next time you want to call an Uber or order something from Doordash, all you have to do is, say it and Rabbit does it for you.
Reviewers aren’t giving it a 5-star, in-fact far from it as its being built and refined in real-time, but at least MKBHD hasn’t called it the worst gadget he ever reviewed. So… that’s a plus, huh? 🙂 I can’t wait to get mine!🤞

2) GMTech: This is a well designed service that let’s you compare many popular LLM models for text and image generation. Just type in your prompt as shown in the image below and it’ll show the results side-by-side so you can compare and pick the one you like. It’s a paid service that comes with a free trial.
3) WonderPlan: Simple and very easy to use service that helps you plan a trip. You can specify you budget, who you are traveling with (single, couple, family, etc..) number of days, dates, etc.. and it does a really good job of pulling a trip together that includes popular places and activities, cost of accommodation, transportation, food, events and activities.
You can see a 7-day plan it generated for a family trip to Seattle here.
4) Artflow: Ever wanted to be the main character of your story? Now is your chance. Artflow let’s you upload your pictures to train their AI (or choose an existing one) and create scenes to put your character in different environments that match your story. Once you have all of that setup, you can bring your character to life by giving it a voice and animating it in seconds.
Artflow does a wonderful job of stitching the whole flow together and making it really easy for people like me who have no experience with stuff like this, but the animation piece of this has room for improvement. I say this because Microsoft’s VASA-1 has set a new standard for animations like this and Artflow is not there, yet.
5) PaintCam: This Kickstarter project, which gives a new meaning to words ‘action camera’, aims to bring a AI-powered security cam to life that not only monitors for intruders but also take matters in its own hands when it detects one. This camera is equipped with lasers and paintball that shoots at threats. Project has raised $85k so far and is $12k away from its target.
